A Relax kids class takes children from high energy movement and games through to low energy mindfulness and relaxation. The sessions are imaginative, creative and lots of fun! Along the way we learn about our amazing brains and how our brains, our feelings and our behaviour are all connected. Some of the benefits... Develops confidence and self esteem.

As we are based in the woods, our Relax Kids workshop will be woodland themed! As well as the 7 step session there will be many games, mindful crafts and activities. It is a drop off session, but we realise that some children can be very nervous and a parent may want to help them until they feel settled. What you need: There will be light refreshments included, but please bring a packed lunch and drink. Sturdy footwear is essential for the uneven woodland paths.

An extra layer, as it can feel chilly in the shade of the woods even on sunny days. A waterproof, just in case! The session will be led by Bonnie McNabb, a licensed Relax Kids coach and level 3 qualified Forest School Leader. Bonnie has been running Relax Kids sessions in the community and in a number of Derbyshire schools for over 5 years. As a Forest School leader, Bonnie also incorporates Relax Kids into some of the Forest School and woodland sessions that she runs in collaboration with Kate Tuck in their Woodland Connections project.

The Relax Kids Workshop will be supported by Louise Bratby. Having worked in schools for over 15 years and a Beavers group leader, Louise is highly experienced and qualified. Bonnie and Louise are both CRB checked and have all of the relevant policies, procedures and risk assessments in place. * The Relax Kids system and exercises were used in a project that won the 2011 Nursing Standards Award - mental health category.
